  I've been living in Mizner Court at Broken Sound for 4 years and plan to remain a resident for several more years. I like it here so much I want to move within the community to a larger unit and transfer and renew my lease for an additional 15 months. I'm hoping to hear back from leasing department within the next few days providing me a list of vacancies and corresponding rates so I can select the new apartment location within the community.   Be smart and do your homework before renting here or at ANY Greystar community. Greystar will scam you any way possible.
  
  First, do not opt for the Sure Deposit they try to talk you into at leasing. It’s a scam – you pay $89 up front, and they will nickel and dime you for everything when you move out. I lived here for a little over one year, from November 2015 to February 2017. The apartment itself was okay, the gate never worked, and you could hear the tenants upstairs – but I feel you will get that in any apartment complex you live in. However, when it came time to move out, I went in after work around 5pm and turned my keys in to Miguel (who I was informed was let go recently after my experience). He told me I could not have a walkthrough of my apartment because management had left for the day. He said he would put a note in my file and if any issues were found, they would call me the next morning. I never heard from them again, so I assumed everything was fine. WRONG.
  
  Fast forward 4 months. I received a certified letter from Greystar corporate stating that I owe them nearly $600 for carpet replacement, my final water bill, and a pet odor. Jamie said she just now received my file because of turnover at Mizner Court – NOT MY FAULT. Mind you, I did not own a pet while living there and my lease states that, I left the apartment in immaculate condition, and sent them a check for my final water bill in April (corporate received that check and cashed it July 29, so you can see how untimely this property is run). This is where they get you with the Sure Deposit – it does not cover anything, and because it wasn’t a standard deposit, the Florida statute does not apply (so they don’t have to notify you in writing of any damages within 30 days). I called Mizner Court to discuss their claims, and after three calls, I never received a response from them. Typical.
  
  Since June 2017, I have been dealing with Dawn Langdon and Jamie Hicks from the Greystar Corporate office. Their lack of detail, verbal manipulation, and inconsistent reporting validates their F rating with the Better Business Bureau. They had zero proof I was responsible for any of the claims they made (the “proof” they sent me was invoices of the services performed which stated that other tenants were already living there), changed the odor reasoning from a pet odor to a food odor in correspondence, , and when I stated my case and reasoning for not being responsible – they threatened me numerous times with being sent to collections. I provided them with pictures of my apartment on the move out date, and there were a few boxes in the living area but you could see the majority of the carpet and Jamie said that was not evidenced enough (even though it was more than they had). They did offer me a “discounted” rate on December 18 but told me it would have to be paid by December 29th – obviously so they can meet their yearend accounting goals. I was threatened once again in January with being sent to collections, and finally this month (January 2018), to save my credit, I had to surrender to their bullying tactics and pay a “discounted” fee of $411.
  
  This company is built on unethical business practices and while the properties may be nice, they will scam you one way or another. If you don’t believe me, google Greystar on the Better Business Bureau, Pissed Consumer, Complaint Boards, etc. and you’ll see over 50 complaints very similar to mine.
